MAD Brewing Company is coming to Medina’s historic Foundry entertainment
complex, home of Foundry Social and High Voltage Karting, and will
offer independent brewers a “Guest Brewmaster” opportunity to use
the brewing facility and its taps to increase their awareness in
The entrepreneurs behind Foundry Social and High Voltage Karting, Greg Cordray, Steve Madden, Brian Fontanella and Gene Whaley, are thrilled to announce that MAD Brewing will open inside Foundry Social in early 2020. The brewery is called MAD Brewing to reflect its owners’ value of Making A Difference, as the new venture can make a difference by giving independent brewers access to the beer-loving Medina County market; valuable exposure a brewer might not have had before now.
“We had plans to have an on-site microbrewery inside Foundry Social,” says Greg Cordray, “but circumstances changed and we had to alter our plans, but we are really excited about this ‘guest brewmaster’ concept. MAD Brewing will select a brewer to take over the brewery and its taps one month at a time. We believe this will help create a more robust local brewing community and give Foundry Social guests an exciting array of new and ever-changing craft beers to experience.”
MAD Brewing will also create a small selection of its own beers which will be available at its facility inside Foundry Social, and one of the beers from each monthly guest brewmaster will remain on tap for 3 months to allow them to reach the Medina County market and increase the awareness of their brand.
When MAD Brewing opens in early 2020, it will be located within Foundry Social, a vibrant and electric emporium of fun and games such as duckpin bowling, billiards, bocce, and video games, as well as a full kitchen and a full-service bar. Private event rooms are also available, large enough to manage gatherings of up to 150 people with smaller event rooms for more intimate parties and events.

The entrepreneurs behind Medina’s High Voltage Karting, Greg Cordray,
Steve Madden, Brian Fontanella and Gene Whaley, are pleased to announce
that Foundry Social, a brand new entertainment center, will open
in the fall of 2019.
Foundry Social will occupy 30,000 square feet in The Foundry partially occupied by High Voltage Karting . When completed this fall, Foundry Social will offer a variety of games such as duckpin bowling, billiards, bocce, pinball, and ping pong. In addition, a wall of “old school” video games like Pac Man and Donkey Kong will be featured alongside their modern counterparts such as Minecraft and Call of Duty.
Foundry Social will have a full kitchen and a full-service bar. Private event rooms will be large enough to manage gatherings of up to 150 people and smaller event rooms will be available for more intimate parties and events.
“We are excited to bring Foundry Social to Medina,” says Cordray. “The
Medina community has embraced us and supported High Voltage Karting
since day one, and we are proud to bring such an exciting entertainment
concept to Medina.”
Once completed, Foundry Social and High Voltage will occupy roughly 40%
of The Foundry, leaving plenty of room for additional attractions.
Cordray said it has been incredibly rewarding to modernize The Foundry
and give it new life. The charm of this historical Medina Landmark,
with it’s 46’ high ceilings, massive girders, and hot rivets, will
be tastefully retained. Part of the modernization is the planned installation
of a cutting-edge rooftop solar array. As Cordray said, “The Foundry
made a difference for the people of Medina 100 plus years ago. That’s
our mission too.”
Foundry Social will add at least 25 new jobs, and Cordray said he anticipates Foundry Social “will bring tens of thousands of visitors to Medina each year, and that will have a positive impact on other community businesses.”
Medina Mayor Dennis Hanwell is excited about the project as well. “The city of Medina’s slogan is ‘Preserving the Past. Forging the Future,’ and the Foundry Social project is doing that – literally. The Foundry dates back to 1850, and High Voltage Karting did a great job breathing new life into the building and preserving a piece of Medina history. With Foundry Social and High Voltage occupying less than half of the space in the facility, they have truly preserved the past and brought it into the future. I can’t think of a better example of our town’s slogan, and I can't wait to see what's next!”
According to Steve Madden, General Manager of Foundry Social, the tentative
grand opening is set for November. Madden said Foundry Social is now
actively hiring. “We are looking for friendly and customer-oriented
bartenders, cooks, servers and maintenance staff,” he said. Madden
encourages anyone interested to watch the Foundry Social Facebook page
and Twitter account or visit TheFoundrySocial.com.
